the wall

seeing lots of reports and discontent concerning Presidents Trumps proposed wall.

Many I hear and see are comparing it to the Berlin Wall and equating it therefor to WWII Germany.

Two major problems with this comparison.

1. The Berlin wall was built to keep people in.. not to keep anything out

2. The Berlin wall was built by the Soviets, not the well conquered Nazi Regime in Germany.

Now if you are still reading and not already typing let me state that our two land boarders are so long I believe a physical barrier that would actually be effective is just flat out a pipe dream. IN my opinion the only three walls in history that have this kind of scope or possible purpose are the Great Wall of China, Hadrian's Wall, and the Maginot Line

All were reputedly built as a border wall to limit incoming traffic and/or commerce. (again not trying to keep people in)

All had a permanent (in their time) military presence at the wall in the form of garrisons and guard towers. Each also maintained a military purpose.

all took massive capitol expense from the nations that built them (The China wall several times)

All three could be and were circumvented or breeched at some point in their own history

In short I believe the border wall to be irrelevant and a waste of money.
